DESIGNER - LOTTA

“The most fun thing is working with India, where ALL possibilities exist and everything can be done! “Yes, we can make it, no problem” are wonderful phrases for a designer.”

Why did you apply to INDISKA?
After 13 years as a designer at two other fashion companies, I was asked if I could design children’s clothes for INDISKA. Since I had just had two children, and this was a new concept both for INDISKA and for me myself, I thought it sounded like an exciting challenge, so it happened.

Describe how you perceive the company and the people who work at INDISKA.
The atmosphere is friendly and family-like. We have a nice mix of different ages and characters. Everyone is extremely committed, loyal and knowledgeable and the scope for discussion at our meetings is great.

What is needed/what is important for you to succeed in your role?
As a designer, it is important to be able to understand and interpret India and its culture and then “translate” it into modern clothes for our Scandinavian customers. East meets West, regardless of whether typical ethnic fashions are in vogue or not.

What is the most fun part of your job?
The most fun thing is working with India, where ALL possibilities exist and everything can be done! “Yes, we can make it, no problem” are wonderful phrases for a designer. There is incredible knowledge in the areas of printing, embroidery, qualities. To be able to travel there a couple of times a year is a boon.

Can you give an example of a time when you have been given/had to take responsibility in your role?
Yes, all the time, every moment and all the year round. Every month and every new collection is equally important, and as a designer you are responsible for filling the collections with new, sellable clothes and accessories.

Can you give an example of when you have had to put yourself to the challenge and try new ways?
Some examples of new challenges have been working together with our temporary collaborating designers, like Jade Jagger. It is exciting, challenging and not always so easy, but lots of fun.
